Chorizo Burgers with a Kick

Bold, juicy, and anything but ordinary. These chorizo burgers are made with Denmark Foods Pork or Beef Chorizo, blended with ground meat for a rich, flavorful patty that’s easy to make and perfect for the grill or stovetop.

INGREDIENTS

For the Burgers
  • 1 lb Denmark Foods Pork or Beef Chorizo
  • ½ cup panko-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For Serving
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Mixed greens or spinach
  • Shredded carrots
  • Thinly sliced cucumber or avocado
  • Thinly sliced red cabbage or red onion
Simple Creamy Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1–2 tablespoons ketchup or chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar

DIRECTIONS

In a medium bowl, gently mix the chorizo, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, and black pepper until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  1. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
  2. Preheat a cast iron skillet or grill over medium heat and lightly oil the surface.
  3. Cook patties for 6–8 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  4. While burgers cook, stir together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  5. Toast buns lightly. Assemble burgers with greens, carrots, cucumber or avocado, cabbage or onion, and a spoonful of sauce.
  6. Serve warm.
